- I have seen this problem before. It is affectinately know as the
- Spiralling-Death Syndrome. It seems USR Sportsers 28800 have a problem
- connecting to Rockwell-Chip Based Modems (Most Hayes compatible
- modems). USR will not openly admit to their "bug" but there is an
- upgrade available from USR. The upgrade is for ROM dated May 95 or
- newer. To check your Rom date use the ATI7 command. Another trick I
- have seen is to add &M5 to the init string. You may also want to lower
- your baud rate.
